Garrapata Beach (and August Photo A Day - Days 11, 12, 13, 14)

In order to inspire more daily photography, I'm participating in Fat Mum Slim blog's Photo A Day in August. There is a theme each day and photos are shared with the hashtag #fmsphotoaday on Instagram.

Day 11 - Mirror - I picked up the art deco compact mirror at a stoop sale in Brooklyn years ago. The mirrored glass pot holds a homemade candle from my sister Melissa. She also gave me the vintage souvenir compact with the lady scarf inside. The cover says, "Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk."
Day 12 - Gather - Pink seaweed and crab shell on Garrapata Beach, Big Sur Coast. What a dreamy beach.

Garrapata Beach - we practically had it to ourselves
Garrapata State Park is at the northern gateway to Big Sur. Access is through pull-offs on the side of Highway One. Gorgeous Garrapata Beach has coarse white sand that doesn't stick to your feet. We saw many whales spouting and swimming off shore. The waves were huge and signs warned against wading and swimming. Hardly any people were on the beach, so we found a private spot near cliffs that provided shade. It's a new family favorite - one of the prettiest beaches I've ever seen.

Ping Pong ball or kelp sphere?
New favorite place!
We found some cave paintings, next to our own private cave area,
which gave us the shade we needed for lily white Wilder.

Day 13 - Inside

Day 14 - Give - Close-up of my mini museum. This little section has gifts and mementos that remind me of Peru, Brooklyn, San Francisco, family and old friends.
